Biography

Nicola Laurenti graduated from University of Padova with a Laurea in Electrical Engineering in 1995. In 1992-93 he was an exchange student at the University of California at Berkeley. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering from University of Padova in February 1999. Since 2001, he has been an Assistant Professor at Department of Information Engineering, University of Padova, where he was a Research Fellow from 1999 to 2001. In 2008-09 he was a Visiting Scholar at Coordinated Science Laboratory, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.


Research

Recent research activity by Nicola Laurenti focuses on network security at the lower layers (physical, data link and network), on information theoretic, unconditional security and on quantum key distribution (aka quantum cryptography). Previously, he has been dealing with multiple aspects of digital communications, especially multicarrier modulation and ultra wide band transmission.
